Privacy policy
This policy explains what data the game AI Swarm: the game (an app for Android) and the website francispike.com use, why, and what your rights are.
1. Summary
- You do not need to give us any data to play: no account, no name, no email.
- Your progress stays on your phone. We cannot see it.
- This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking.
2. Who is responsible for your data
- Data controller: Lucio Buricca, Italy.
- Francis Pike is the developer name we use on Google Play.
- To contact the data controller, including for any privacy question, write to info@francispike.com.
3. Data saved on your phone
The game saves on your phone, in the app storage ("localStorage"):
- the game in progress;
- completed missions and stars;
- your preferences, such as difficulty and display options.
This data:
- does not contain your name or anything else that identifies you;
- never leaves your phone: the game does not send it to us or to anyone else;
- is only needed to make the game work. For this reason your consent is not required (article 5(3) of the EU "ePrivacy" Directive 2002/58/EC; in Italy, article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code).
To delete it, clear the app data in the Android settings, or uninstall the game.
If Google backup is turned on for your phone, Android may also copy this data into your backup. The backup is managed by Google with your account: we cannot see it.
4. Google Play statistics
Google Play shows us overall statistics: installs, ratings, reviews. It also shows us crash reports for the game, collected by Google only from phones where the user chose to share usage and diagnostics data with Google. This data is collected by Google, not by the game, and does not tell us who you are.
5. If you write to us
If you email us, we use your address and what you write only to answer you. Legal basis: your request and our legitimate interest in answering. We keep messages only as long as we need them to deal with your request, then delete them.
6. Testers
This part only applies to people who try test versions of the game, by invitation.
- Firebase App Distribution (Google): to send you test versions we use your name and email. Firebase also records your phone's identifiers, whether you accepted the invitation and installed the version, and the feedback you send from the testing app. Google processes this data on our behalf. We keep it while you are a tester; when you stop, we delete it from the console, and Google removes it from its systems within 180 days (source).
- Closed testing on Google Play: to let you join, we use the email of your Google account, which we add to the tester list in the Play Console.
- Only the game's two developers can see this data: the data controller and the other developer, who manage the Firebase project together.
- Legal basis: your request to take part in the tests (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).
7. Children
The game is meant for people aged at least 16.
8. Security and data outside the European Economic Area
- The game does not send personal data to us or to anyone else.
- The Google services we use for the game (Google Play and Firebase) may also process data in the United States and in other countries outside the European Economic Area. Google does so with the safeguards required by the GDPR: the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses (source).
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR (articles 15 to 22) you have the right to:
- know what data we hold about you and get a copy;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- restrict or object to its use;
- receive it in a readable format (portability);
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what happened before.
To use these rights, write to info@francispike.com. We answer within one month. You control the data saved on your phone: we do not have it (see section 3).
If you think we handle your data in the wrong way, you can complain to the supervisory authority of the country of the European Economic Area where you live, where you work or where the problem happened (GDPR article 77). The authority of the data controller's country is the Italian Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
10. This website
francispike.com is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, a service of Cloudflare, Inc. Like any website, Cloudflare processes the IP address of visitors and technical details of each request (for example the page asked for and the browser) to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, and keeps them in its logs for a limited time. Cloudflare does this on our behalf, and may do it outside the European Economic Area with the safeguards required by the GDPR. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and available (GDPR article 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare's privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from other websites.
11. Changes
If we change this policy we update the date at the top. If something important changes (for example, ads are added to the game) we also mention it in the game's "Novità" (what's new) page.
